8. How would safety be ensured if the facility does go ahead?

Safety is the overriding issue in this process. It is a key issue that the Partnership is discussing with the Government, NDA and the regulators and we would not recommend a decision to participate in the next stage of this process unless we were reassured about the processes to assess the safety of any facility. Safety would have to be a primary factor in the development of a facility. All of the appropriate regulators and safety bodies would also want to have their concerns addressed prior to a facility being developed.
